Engine Performance Engineer

Job Description:

Essential Job Functions:

Generation of engine steady-state performance predictions, understanding significant deviations relative to target levels Prepare front to back plot package and analyze specific component impacts on systems performance Identify shortfalls to audit requirements or thrust response requirements Review and analyze engineering changes to quantify impact to performance and operability requirements Analyze flight test data, summarize results, create plot packages, and provide recommendations Update acceleration & deceleration control schedules to ensure engine and control system will meet requirements without violating other system limits Provide review material for software functional readiness reviews Assemble post-test model audits, gas generator analysis and model calibration information into documentation package Determine component efficiencies, nozzle coefficients, key pressure losses, and compressor operating lines Assist in identifying opportunities for improvement and take ownership for implementation Collaborate and innovate with a team of QuEST engineers in the project process

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent experience) and 0 to 2+ years of relevant experience. The following criteria will be additionally used to identify and assess top candidates: Familiar with operating principles of a jet engine from a thermodynamic standpoint Have knowledge of computer programming such as MATLAB, C++ or FORTRAN Prior work experience (including internships) performing engineering analysis preferred Prior experience with engine performance or operability analysis would be a plus Project Management experience, including: Planning, Finances, Tracking, and Reporting Ability to manage customer perceptions and showcase QuEST s achievements Experience in technical writing and conducting formal presentations Proficiency with MS-Office Suite Tools, to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Strong communication, organizational, and social skills required Candidate must be responsible, reliable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Candidate must have the ability to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines
