The Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Assistance Program Coordinator develops and implements the IPV Assistance Program specific to his/her area of assignment and insures compliance and collaboration with local facility and the VA Central Office Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program initiatives. The IPV Assistance Program Coordinator is responsible for reviewing all incoming consultations for Intimate Partner Violence and manages all referrals received through multiple referral sources. Track and trend data in order to monitor success of attempted contacts, rate of no-shows, scheduling patterns, and other data reflected in the Medical Center. The incumbent administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided to individuals impacted by intimate partner violence. Develops and implements information systems to track service activities including visits, referrals, demographics, equipment utilization and Veteran satisfaction. Advises and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams throughout the medical center on intimate partner violence (IPV) issues. Creates educational tools, develops programs and implements training focused on specific IPV needs/issues. Provides education and in-service training to VAMC employees, Veterans, families and Caregivers. Provides ongoing consultation and support to colleagues regarding IPV assistance. Develops and facilitates support groups and educational programs. Distributes educational materials provided by VA, local, state and national IPV organizations. The incumbent conducts Veteran, family, Caregiver and VA employee interventions to facilitate the identification of intimate partner violence, psychiatric illness, emotional distress and social needs as treatment issues. The incumbent provides referrals to VA medical and mental health treatment and to other VA services including VA benefits, as well as community-based social services and other non-VA entitlement programs. If appropriate, the incumbent provides referrals or consults, or in some cases direct admission of a Veteran to other VA programs. The incumbent serves as the major consultant for information on negotiating the complex processes Veterans, their families, caregivers and VA employees encounter when interacting with government and community agencies.

Basic Requirements: * United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. * Education. Have a master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. * English Language Proficiency. Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j. * License requirement: Persons hired to social worker positions at the GS-12 grade level must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an ASWB advanced generalist or clinical examination. Grade Determinations: GS-12 Social Worker In addition to the basic requirements above, Social Workers at the GS-12 level must meet the following: (a)Experience, Education, and Licensure: In addition to the basic requirements, the GS-12 Senior Social Worker must have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. At least two years should be in an area of specialized social work practice directly related to the position to be filled (Intimate Partner Violence/Domestic Violence). Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator's must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level. Their experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressively more professional competency. They may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the professional KSAs below: (b) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 1. In-depth knowledge of the program coordinated, and demonstrated knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. 2. Knowledge and skill in management/administration, which includes supervision, consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. 3. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program. 4. Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and evaluate assigned program area(s). 5. Ability to provide training, orientation, consultation and guidance within clinical specialization of practice.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. It may require some lifting (10-25 lbs) occasionally. Reaching above shoulder; frequent keyboarding (4-7 hours per day); sitting (4-7 hours per day); Walking up to 6 hours per day; Standing up to 8 hours a day; Infrequent climbing/ descending of stairs; some bending; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; correctable near sighted and far sighted vision; hearing (aid permitted).
