Parsons is seeking a degreed engineer with an academic background in engineering with a process and environmental focus to join our Northwest Indiana team.The Engineerwill perform a wide variety of complex engineering functions in an active refinery.This position will report to a senior engineer/project manager and will work with various engineers, scientists, technicians, craft workers, administrative staff, safety personnel and our industrial client. Successful candidate will function within an environment of high expectations for both work product and safe field practices and will be a self-starter who takes initiative following orientation and training.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
*Working with engineers of other disciplines on evaluatingand optimizing groundwater and oil recovery remediation systems.
*Inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting various equipment.
*Improving the operations and reliability of remediation equipment.
*Implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Inspection and Maintenance Plans (IMPs) in the field and writing new ones or updating existing ones.
*Utilizing piping and instrumentation diagrams to perform duties.
*Field oversight of construction and drilling contractors.
*Data compilation and evaluation, cost estimating, oral and written communications, report and presentation preparation.
Additional responsibilities will be determined based upon the needs of the team and the client and may require priorities to be adjusted on short notice.
·B.S. degree (or higher) in Engineering, preferably in chemical engineering.
·EIT obtained or obtaining.
·Previous internship experience preferred.
·A valid U.S. driver’s license.
·Ability to read and interpret piping and instrumentation drawings.
·Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other engineers, field technicians, subcontractors, and directly with a hands-on client.
·Excellent time management and written and verbal communication skills.
·Successful candidate will be comfortable with both field and office work, with majority of time in the field.
·Must obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate before beginning the job.The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to take a HAZWOPER certification program on-line prior to starting job.
·Ability to obtain 10-hour OSHA construction training and homeland security clearance (TWIC) in first weeks on the job.
Successful candidate will show solid decision-making, will prioritize safety, will be eager to learn, and capable of performing well while working on multiple diverse tasks.
