Summary

Input of programming specifications for welding robotics through use of computer generated software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Attends the job during the scheduled work hours.

Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.

Plans details of working procedure.

May include Inspecting finished product for completeness and conformance to all quality assurance procedures.

Programs welding robot with use of off-line programming for installation of correct welding parameters and welding location from blue print specifications.

Operates machine to verify program specifications.

Qualifications

Education

Pursuing Associates degree from a two year technical school in robotics preferred. Minimum of one year related experience in robotic welding and/or programming.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in metric and standard units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to convert standard units of measure to metric and metric to standard.

As a Robot Programmer and Automation Intern, you’ll work with a mentor to gain valuable real-world experience in issues that impact manufacturing processes with regards to robotic welding and automation engineering. Some of the areas you’ll be trained in include:

Programming/Design/Production Support

  • Assist with the design and installation of new cells within the Welding Department.

  • Program Fanuc and IGM welding robots, and Fronius and Miller weld power supplies to support production.

  • Work with Robot Manager to identify production / build related problems, long-term issues, and negative trends.

  • Assist in solving robot related barriers to production that are identified in our Transformation outstanding issues.

  • Maintain and document weld schedules.

  • Work with engineers on current automation issues that prevent safer, more efficient, and higher quality ratings while reducing waste and touch points.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Provide regular updates to the Manufacturing Engineer and Robot Manager regarding project status.

  • Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area and 6S zone.

    Prepare and deliver final presentation to local leaders at the end of Internship with assigned project recommendations.
