American Council on Education Membership Intern in Washington, District Of Columbia

The American Council on Education is offering a Fall internship in the Membership Department. The selected individual will gain knowledge of the higher education field and how associations serve the needs of university and college administrators. The candidate will also gain experience in association management through work with the membership database, using it as a tool to provide and improve service to members.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct a competitive analysis of higher education associations based on specified criteria and output. Write a report comparing and contrasting ACE's mission, programs, benefits, and dues structure with those aspects of other higher education associations.

  • Conduct member research and update records in CRM database, including:

  • Collect, verify, organize, and input data from a wide variety of sources, with a specific focus on institutional and CEO data

  • Enter institutional and contact data into the CRM database

  • Use Excel to review and track updates to member information

  • Employ e-alerts and Internet searches to identify and verify member data

  • Perform data quality audits of CRM database in order to correct and/or complete data fields.

Preferred Experience

  • Interest or experience in the following fields of study: marketing, membership, statistics, or database use/management

  • Strong analytical research skills

  • Professional demeanor

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience working in a relational database a plus

The pay rate for this position is $13.25 per hour. The internship is schedule to begin as soon as possible and runs until December 15. The intern will be expected to work at least 20 hours per week, but may work up to 35 hours depending on interest and availability.
