Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties of the position include short-term individual, group, couples, and family therapy; psychological assessment; crisis intervention; consultation; outreach and psychoeducational workshops (sometimes after hours); clinical supervision and training; case management as needed; liaison/consultant relationships with university partners; and rotating after hours emergency/crisis on call responsibilities. All clinical staff positions involve some administrative duties and roles.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:
• Build relationships and provide direct clinical services to student athletes, while also helping to connect student athletes with the comprehensive services of the Counseling Center (e.g. Individual or Group Therapy, Eating Concerns Treatment Team, Referral Coordination, and Daytime/After-Hours Emergency Services), as well as other resources on campus.
• Provide consultation, assistance, and educational opportunities for coaches, Athletic Administrators, Sports Medicine Staff (including Team Physicians and Athletic Trainers), Strength and Conditioning Staff, Academic Advisors, and other support staff members of the Athletics Department.
• Provide performance enhancement services to students and teams.
• Collaborate with Student Athlete Development to provide requested programming that can assist with the overall development of Student-Athlete health and well-being.
• Serve as an active member of the Athletics Health Care Providers Team.
A successful candidate should be committed to a proactive student affairs perspective involving an active relationship with the campus community; be team-oriented and collaborative with students, colleagues, and university staff; be prepared to handle a busy caseload and work at a fast pace; have skills for advanced planning; have thorough knowledge and adherence to mental health ethics and law; have proficiency in oral and written communication skills, public speaking, and leading group discussions; have broad generalist clinical skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of disorders, concerns, and degrees of pathology in treatment utilizing a time limited model of care; demonstrate a commitment to a developmental philosophy toward both clients and trainees; and be available and willing to attend occasional evening or weekend activities.
