Job Summary

Performs duties that span a range from medium to high judgment, complexity, and scope. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to ensuring the integrity of financial and statistical data information exchanges between various core financial/statistical feeder systems, enhancing business processes through the effective testing and implementation of core business applications, and collaborating with Information Technology and functional customers in maximizing the effectiveness of business processes and the use of financial/statistical reporting tools. The ideal candidate should be adept at troubleshooting, be able to manage multiple projects/deadlines simultaneously, be customer service oriented, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be a self-starter who can work independently or lead a project team with minimal direction and supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Build and update core system tables in a large enterprise reporting system

  • Prepare and coordinate system interface file processes and modifications

  • Demonstrates knowledge of applications and their integration (interface) with and effect on other systems.

  • Test and validate the integrity of infrastructure enhancements and changes

  • Coordinate and troubleshoot the monthly financial reporting processes

  • Support advanced technological and functional features of core financial systems

  • Verify accuracy and timeliness of transaction processing, and prepare correcting journals, when required to correct issues with feeder system data exchanges

  • Troubleshoot issues with information sharing and integrity between core financial systems using tools such as PS Query, Oracle/MS SQL, MS Access, and Excel

  • Build and test queries and other advanced applications such as allocations, process workflows, etc. to be migrated to production for the benefit of the functional customer base

  • Develop and enhance reports using PeopleSoft nVision, XML, and Kaufman Hall Budget Advisor reporting tools.

  • Support business process and integration due to new financial/statistical application deployment, business reporting requirement changes, or system conversion initiatives

  • Identify best practices and approaches for mining and distributing data to finance customers

  • Collaborate with Finance and Information Services to develop/implement new and improved process designs and workflows, and cyclical reporting enhancements for operations customers

  • Review and validate work prepared by Accounting System Support team members

  • Lead small to medium complexity projects or implementations. Ensures successful completion of assigned projects on schedule, within budget, and in accordance within CHS standards.

  • Manages training when necessary, inclusive of course development and delivery. Ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift objects that weigh up to 35 lbs. This position is subject to high-level visibility through verbal and written communications with senior hospital management, associated project deadlines, personnel evaluation, and counseling. Must be available for on-call support on a regular basis. Due to project requirements, overtime will be required, as needed.

Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related job field preferred. Experience in Microsoft Office, databases, Software Development packages, programming languages, SQR, Crystal, Unix and AIX. Experience in an educational background should have Information Systems or Business-Related internships or Part-time employment experiences. Two years work experience with IS Technology preferred. Health care industry experience preferred.
