Job Summary

This position performs Human Resource Management functions with responsibility in the areas of classification, staffing, compensation, examining, organizational analysis and labor relations for the Department of Public Safety.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of professional human resources experience OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in Human Resources or related fieldand one year of professional human resources experience. Experience to include all of the following

  • Job evaluation, analysis of principles and practices sufficient to conduct job class studies and allocate individual positions.

  • Experience with Resumix, Recruiting Solutions and/or other applicant tracking systems.

  • Coordinating selection activities including developing job announcements, determining position qualifications, reviewing applicant qualifications and assisting supervisors with hiring processes.

  • Ability to write in-depth job classification and salary documentation for determinations.

  • Knowledge of federal, state employment and labor law (e.g. ADA, EEO/AA, FMLA, FLSA, MN Data Practices Act) and bargaining processes.

As part of the selection process candidates will be required to submit a detailed writing sample.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in Human Resources or related field

  • SHRM certification

  • Hay rating experience

  • Compensation analysis experience

  • Experience administering an Internship Program

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
