Zion National Park is located in southwestern Utah. The climate is generally hot with daytime temperatures averaging 95 to 100 in the summer and 55 in the winter. Nighttime lows range from 65 in the summer to 30 in the winter. Minimal shopping is available in Springdale, Utah located 2 miles from Park Headquarters. Full range of shopping, medical, dental, religious and recreational facilities are available in Hurricane (25 miles), St. George, (45 miles) and in Cedar City, Utah (63 miles). Elementary school (grades K-5) is available in Springdale with bus service provided. Junior high and high school is available in Hurricane with bus service provided. Dixie College is located in St. George and Southern Utah University is located in Cedar City.
Who May Be Considered:
Recent Graduates who in the previous 2 years have completed a degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Veterans precluded by a military service obligation have up to 6 years after completion of degree or certificate to apply.
This position is for Recent Graduates who have completed a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years. Note: (1) Certain veterans precluded from applying within the timeframe due to a military service obligation have up to 6 years from completing their education to apply; (2) Applicants who completed their educational program requirements after December 27, 2010 will have a full 2 years of eligibility beginning on the date the final regulations became effective, July 10, 2012.

For GS-05: Successful completion of at least a bachelor's degree or higher degree with major study in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. In order to qualify for this position based on education, you must submit transcripts.
For GS-07: Successful completion of 1 year (18 semester/27 quarter credits) of graduate-level education DIRECTLY related to the position as listed above for the GS-05 or Superior Academic Achievement. Superior academic achievement is based on one of the following: (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society member. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institutionwith your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. You will NOT be considered under Pathways unless you provide supporting information from your school. Documentation may be provided in letter format from your academic advisor, school counselor, admission office, etc. to prove enrollment OR it may be provided in the form of several official documents from your school such as a copy of your official transcripts and a copy of your class schedule for next semester. Copies of documents from your school website are acceptable if they contain all relevant information as listed above. Letters from advisors or other school officials must be on school letterhead.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
This is an excepted service, intense 1-year on-the-job training and developmental experience appointment under the NPS Pathways Recent Graduates Program.
