VCA Bay Area Veterinary Specialists is a multi-doctor, 24-hour emergency/specialty practice in San Leandro, California—located just 15 miles south of Berkeley, in the East Bay.

We are looking for a Criticalist to join our team!

In this position, you'll use your superior medical judgment combined with a high level of empathy, confidence, and humility to save pets’ lives.

VCA Bay Area Veterinary Specialists is a progressive, fast-paced and well-established 24-hour specialty referral practice located in sunny San Leandro, CA, just 15 miles south of Berkeley in the East Bay. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with endoscopic and laparoscopic capabilities, linear accelerator, C-Arm, CT and Digital Radiography. BAVS specialty departments include Critical Care, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Radiology, as well as a bustling ER staffed with experienced emergency clinicians.

At VCA BAVS, we are continuing to develop a progressive Intensive Care Unit that includes telemetry, blood gas analysis, and eventually a therapeutic ventilator. Our Criticalists work closely with each other and our team of specialists to provide care for critical patients and consults for our specialists throughout the hospital.

Our current team includes 1 FT staff Criticalist and 2 PT Criticalists in a relief capacity. We want to continue with our Critical Care service with 7 days/week coverage, helping us to ensure the highest quality of medicine for our patients while providing an excellent work-life balance for all of our doctors and staff.
