The USFK is located at USAG Humphreys, in the Pyongtaek metropolitan areas in the Republic of Korea. USAG Humphreys is the new headquarters for U.S. Forces Korea, 8th U.S. Army, and Installation Management Command-Korea. USAG Humphreys is an hour and a half drive south of Seoul, 40 minutes south of Osan Air Base, and 15 minutes from the city of Pyongtaek. You will serve as a Command Historian:
Occasional travel - This position will require 20 percent of Temporary Duty (TDY) travel time.

Basic Requirement for Historian:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. OR
Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Serving as an expert advisor to the command regarding complex historical, political, cultural, and economic factors; and providing historical analysis, integrating disparate facts, identifying subtle patterns and trends, assimilating findings, and preparing authoritative assessments and insights into past, present, and future Theater operations and programs; and writing substantial narrative command histories or historical accounts of military operations and conducting studies to be used for high-level military policy deliberations.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).

Evaluation of Graduate Education:
