GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Summer Internship for May-August 2019 in the Innovation and Transformation Strategy division at Highmark Health.

This role works with all VITAL program team members in identifying problems, performing root cause analysis, implementing risk mitigation tactics and appropriate follow up and action plans to ensure continuous improvement. The incumbent also supports capacity modeling, strategic planning, project management and portfolio management for the VITAL team.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has the goal of providing the opportunity to acquire practical experience through direct exposure to the related business line(s) and to develop the next generation of diverse business professionals. To that end, the program will provide hands-on training and experience in the business line, expose the various career opportunities in the business line and related areas, and prepare participants for positions in the business.

Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in assessing the VITAL operations model in conjunction with leadership to meet customer demand, product innovations, and anticipated growth needs

  • Support documentation and project needs of study team, with a focus on profitability, streamlining delivery cycles, controlling study costs, and margins across all projects

  • Operational focus (prioritization, operating model, capacity planning), including developing short and long term plans and ensuring the proper measures are in place to track progressof the VITAL program

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Pursuance of a graduate degree full or part-time in an accredited college or university.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP, Six Sigma Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to ready financial data/statements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to present to leadership audiences;

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

5.As specifically requested by management, conductresearch and reporting inclusive of recommendations or alternative proposals for action.

6.Undertakerelated studies or enrichment programs as appropriate to the specific objectives of the operating unit.

7.Performmiscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
