Position Description:

WSP seeks a civil engineering college student who is in good standing working towards a degree in Civil Engineering or related field within an accredited program. Familiarity with CADD software is required. This would be a full-time position for approximately months beginning in the Fall 2018. The candidate will gain experience in the implementation of transportation projects located in the Philadelphia area, in the structures group.

Major Tasks and Duties will include:

  • Assist more experienced Engineers in broader Engineering activities

  • Assist in analysis of project data

  • Prepare materials for presentations or client meetings

  • Assist with project research

  • Perform basic calculations

  • Assist with quantity and cost estimates

  • Assist with field work

  • Perform basic civil engineering design functions

  • Assist with field work, including bridge inspection

  • Document research and field investigations

  • Prepare sketches and drawings

  • Using various types of CADD design software

Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Must be motivated and have a strong desire to learn engineering skills related to civil and structural projects.

  • Experience with Microstation, AutoCAD and knowledge of reading drawings

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of basic civil engineering theories and principles

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Skills


  • In-Roads

  • MathCAD

Required Education

  • Two or more years of college in a four or five year program.

  • CURRENT standing as a student actively enrolled in an accredited (or related) Undergraduate Program, or actively enrolled in an accredited Graduate Program. (Those who have already completed degree studies donotqualify as candidates for this or any of our internships.)

  • The ability to work in the United States immediately.
