This position is located at Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) Headquarters (HQ) in Millington, TN. The primary function of this position is to assist in a variety of short term assignments at the guidance of the assigned Financial Management Branch. Student Trainee may be assigned specific projects to complete and may rotate between various working areas. Based on established policies, carries out assignments specific to the program area assigned. The specific duties assigned to this position will vary.

This position assists with performing duties in the Financial Management Branch. Generally the student trainee (intern) performs duties, in addition to classroom training, designed to provide an orientation in the application of theories and basic principles and practices in support of the specific assigned area.
The student trainee (intern) coordinates, in conjunction with supervisor, a special project within Financial Management Branch which may include the planning, research, development, and establishment of a Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M;) for its implementation, receives formal and on-the-job instructions designed to familiarize student trainee with the functions and operations of the program area and work responsibility, gains practical experience in the application of related knowledge, and applies professional and/or management theory, principles, and practices to the work assigned.
The student trainee (intern) also receives practical day-to-day experience by being assigned to complete specific tasks, dependent on the department workload demands and requirements. This may include being assigned to a specific work area within the department for an extended period.

Must be currently enrolled as a junior, senior, and/or graduate student in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or Graduate degree with a GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale with a major in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
Knowledge of the basic principles, concepts, and methodology of the profession or administrative occupation (Finance or Accounting), and skill in applying this knowledge in carrying out elementary assignments, operations, or procedures
Knowledge of professional and/or management theories, concepts and principles gained in acquiring a bachelors’ degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent knowledge obtained through work experience to allow the incumbent to perform in a trainee capacity.
Knowledge of and ability to apply standard procedures and operations in assigned area.
Knowledge of computer software and hardware.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with assigned program participants.
TRAVEL REQUIRED No travel required.
