*Duties: *

Oversee the performance measurement system for the Department of Correction (DOC) from identification of measures through development of collection processes to analyzation and reporting. Compile information with established procedures. Performs data analysis to determine the applicability of data, to draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Performs data validation on all data received along with periodic data audits for quality assurance. Gather information by examining records and documents. Conduct research to aid in presentations and to form “best practices” for use. Train other DOC staff in Performance Measures and other related topics. Design and prepare data reports and briefs regarding critical incidents or incidents of importance for review by Department leadership. Maintain positive relationships with DOC staff that contribute data and work closely with those staff members to ensure accuracy of the information provided. Create and review strategic plan updates highlighting major accomplishments for inclusion into the Agency’s annual report. This position will maintain performance measures and business systems standards by applying project management methods, tools and processes as standard practice;

This position will manage a data unit that will act as a hub of support for data warehousing and Tableau dashboard reporting of inmate data. This position will serve as a liaison for technical and data related inquires and work with several cross-functional areas,DOC's Data Advisory Committee (DAC) and subject matter experts in order to translate complex data and analysis into an easily understood Tableau dashboards that are suitable across diverse groups with varying abilities and are easily understood at all levels of management. The manager of Analytics will require both the ability to present business intelligent findings and train staff on the day to day use and functionality of the dashboard.

This position will analyze current reports and recommend alternative methods for visualizing and delivering information in dashboard technology as well as stay current on business and related technical skillsets in order to continuously implement new solutions into reporting and business processes and data visualization throughout the DOC. The position will train and mentor end users for dashboard adhoc reporting and data consumption and continue to work with staff and other team members to produce timely high-quality solutions.

  • *This position's task and responsibilities will ensure that DOC adheres to the best practices in data effectiveness, data integrity and quality by providing support and preparing audits, accountability, and assessment processes. Data applications will vary, but include those used by divisions and institutions as has already been established (i.e. Research, Classification, Reentry, Performance Measures, etc.) and will bear in mind strategies to increase efficiency, , adhere to best practices in the field, policy analysis, program effectiveness and cost-savings. This position will ensure that DOC's data needs are met and appropriate data resources are developed, maintained and tracked in alignment with departmental goals and strategies and associated communications and action plans are developed and implemented in an efficient and effective manner. Performs other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

§Strong judgment, analytic reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills

§Ability to balance multiple and competing priorities and deadlines, excellent organizational skills, and ability to track multiple projects/programs tasks.

§Knowledge of data query and extract tools i.e., TOAD or use of end-user SQL tools to browse data and experience with complex querying and analyzing data.Two-plus years’ experience working with Relational Databases and SQL desirable.

§Knowledge of, Tableau or other dashboards software.

§Extensive knowledge of the performance management discipline including a clear understanding of new and emerging best practices.

§ Success working with a range of diverse stakeholders and tailoring approaches and communications to successfully meets project goals and timelines.

§Ability to adapt to new requirements, including learning new applications and new systems.

§Knowledge of SPSS or other statistical and knowledge of Excel and techniques in charts, graphs and pivot tables.

§Strong communication skills;Should be self-motivated able to work independently or as part of a team.

§Ability to understand and follow instructions precisely.

§Experience in report writing, including strong ability to present written and graphic information clearly andeffectively

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must have at least (A) five (5) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.

Substitutions:

I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

II. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.

III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.

IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required experience.
