Position Title: JET Intern Property Accounting
The JetBlue Emerging Talent (JET) internship program provides skill & professional development through participation in the developing real-world business solutions that support the delivery of strategic business initiatives. Throughout the program, interns participate in a robust programming including professional development activities, cross-functional projects, senior leader exposure, networking, and community service. The JET Program provides interns the opportunity to immerse themselves into the aviation industry while developing specific career interest or areas of study.
The JetBlue Intern program is designed to develop a pipeline of well-rounded future Crewmembers. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for placement within our Property Accounting team. This team is primarily responsible for capitalization of fixed assets, bank reconciliations, fuel accounting and debt. This represents more than $7 billion in assets and more than half the Balance Sheet of JetBlue.
Assist with monthly bank reconciliations of nearly 100 bank accounts, including foreign banks and currencies
Assists with the fixed asset capitalization process by gathering and summarizing necessary data within departmental timelines
Involves analyzing project spend and open items, following up with project owners and other departments to obtain required information to resolve open items
Analyze assigned projects to determine if they are in accordance with established policies and guidelines
Prepare journal entries to facilitate the accurate and timely clearing of assigned projects
Assist with adding new assets to the fixed asset system and running monthly depreciation
Assist with variance analysis of depreciation expense and other related accounts
Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and other assignments as requested
Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Corporate Real Estate and Information Technology
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate program in Accounting
A self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize assignments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Able to provide official transcript and pass a pre-employment drug test
Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Ability to work cross-functionally, collaboratively and under pressure
Excellent analytical skills
Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
