Job Summary

CenturyLink’s internship program is a 10 week, fast-paced and exciting opportunity to gain professional experience within your field of study. Interns within the Product Development and Technology department will be challenged to apply their knowledge gained in the classroom to real world problems. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience working on real world Innovation Initiatives for a Fortune 500 company. This position will allow students to utilize their talents and abilities to innovate on active projects at CenturyLink. Interns within the Access Test and Certification group will be responsible for the following.

Job Description

Testing ADSL1, ADSL2+, VDSL2 and GPON hardware and software solutions to provide top quality High-speed Internet services.

• Provide testing support and results tracking for DSLAMs and GPON OLTs as well as xDSL modems, and SmartHome/IoT functionality projects.

• Partnering with Senior level Architects to assist in certification projects for deployment of Access Network equipment into CenturyLink’s Network.


Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/Engineering.

• Technical understanding of the different types of services provided in a consumer telecommunications network. (Ex. 802.11b/g/n/ac/ax wireless, PPP, DHCP, UPnP, Firewall, Internet Security, etc.)

• Accomplished written and verbal communications skills, excellent interpersonal skills as well as practical negotiation skills.

• Standard knowledge of the App environment is required to test SmartHome/IoT functionality across multiple app environments (iOS, Android, Windows10 Apps, etc.)

• Standard knowledge of typical IoT Protocols is required to test SmartHome/IoT functionality across multiple environments (Bluetooth, ZigBee, Z-wave, WiFi etc.)

• Must have a high level of professionalism in all activities as well as a high work ethic.

• Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills

• Strong problem-solving skills

• Strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines

• Highly motivated, organized, reliable and detail oriented

• Capable of multi-tasking efficiently

• Quick learner and not afraid to work with new technology

• Professional attitude

• Currently enrolled at a 4-year accredited College or University

• 3.0 or above cumulative GPA

• Classification: Junior, Senior or Graduate status by start of internship
