S&T Bank Internship - Audit in Indiana, Pennsylvania

Work Days and Expected Hours:

Approximately 20 hours per week during the hours of Monday -Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

(Schedule will be based on course schedules and the needs of the department to carryout objectives.)

Function: The S&T Audit Internship position provides an introduction to the internal audit profession. Throughout the program, participants will work under the direct supervision of an experienced auditor. Participants will assist in performing audits of departments, functions or processes throughout S&T Bancorp, Inc. and its affiliates (“S&T”) to determine and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting, operations, and regulatory compliance. This program will provide exposure to the issues shaping and affecting the industry today, as well as topics and experience related to the participants’ own career development. Coaching is another important aspect of the internship and the experienced auditors will serve as a source of information and provide direction during the engagements or projects. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to receive candid feedback at the end of each engagement or project and will have an opportunity to periodically review their overall performance with audit management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of an experienced auditor, the participant’s duties will include:

  • Assisting in performing audits by executing pre-defined audit tests and procedures, participating in information gathering and analysis, and preparing work papers and summaries to document audit results.

  • Executing and documenting audit work in accordance with S&T’s audit methodology and quality requirements in accordance with the International Professional Practices Framework of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

  • Assisting independent auditors, as needed, by conducting pre-defined audit procedures, such as confirmations, application reconcilements and various tests of accounting records.

  • Executing and documenting audit work in accordance with S&T’s audit methodology and quality requirements in accordance with the International Professional Practices Framework of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

  • Beginning to develop general knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and bank industry guidance.

  • Maintaining a good working relationship with co-workers and other bank employees.

  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as being a motivated team player.

  • Performing additional duties as required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. Requires the use of manual dexterity skills for typing up to 80% of the business day. Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18”-20”, distance vision and depth perception for computer work and travel.
