Volvo Group Trucks Operations (GTO) is the truck industrial entity within the Volvo Group responsible for Truck manufacturing, including Cab & Vehicle Assembly, Powertrain Production, Logistics Services, Parts Distribution and Remanufacturing. Hagerstown’s group function is Powertrain Production. Powertrain production is one of the world's largest manufacturers of heavy-duty diesel engines for commercial vehicles. Powertrain production provides diesel engines and transmission systems to the Volvo Group Business Areas.
Volvo Hagerstown produces all rear axles for Mack trucks. This position provides engineering support for the axle line. Co-op will report to the axle assembly engineer and coordinate projects with line supervisors, operators and maintenance.
The selected applicant will use applied engineering and technical analyses to improve ergonomic/financial efficiency of the axle line and establish/document operating procedures used on the line.
Apply WPO techniques/tools at selected areas: 5S, Spaghetti Diagrams, NVAA Video Analysis, AVIX, Ergonomic Studies
Identify and prioritize potential projects/solutions: Weigh characteristics such as cost, benefit, implementation time, flexibility, durability, usability, etc.
Document and present projects in a clear and concise form: Convey the problem, analysis, solution and results using standard forms/methods

Co-op Education and Program Requirements
Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a BSME/BSIE at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the co-op
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
