The Clinical Data Analyst for the national Office of the Chief Medical Officers (OCMO) is responsible for managing data and workflows associated with medical and pharmacy program decision-making and implementation. Analyzes large data files and prepares reports. Records, maintains, and publishes pharmacy data and insights as required by Davita Medical Group. Creates value-added solutions that drive proven business processes while improving quality of patient care.

Principles functions of OCMO include but are not limited to: Quality and Patient Satisfaction, Hierarchal Condition Coding, Innovation and Care Model Redesign, New Market Integration, Medical Management (including Care management, Disease Management, High Risk Population Management, Primary Care, Specialty and Inpatient Programs), Business Development and Advocacy, IT and Analytics, and Clinical Education. Collectively, this body will work in concert and collaboration with DMG markets to achieve the DMG’s strategic vision of a value-based, clinically integrated system of care that is committed to care delivery that is patient-centered, efficient, timely, effective, equitable and safe.

The Clinical Data Analyst will report to the Senior Director, National Clinical Strategy and Operations.

Essential Functions:

Summarizes DMG medical and pharmacy claims data and prepares reports of drug utilization, disease trends, spend and coverage by drug category, line of business, and market. (40%)

Creates Rx performance dashboards and trends changes for various internal stakeholders. (30%)

Creates economic models and forecasts to support Rx contracting efforts. (30%)

Technical Aptitude:

  • Excellent analytical skills necessary to interpret medical and pharmacy claims data and to prepare reports and summary documents.

  • Requires a high degree of initiative to anticipate the data needs of the department and to research available data sources.

  • Strategic mindset; self-starter with ability to drive independent problem solving and develop systemic solutions.

  • Ability to think critically, ask good questions, rapidly acquire, synthesize and internalize knowledge from past projects, and employ such knowledge in new initiatives.

Job-Specific Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master ’s degree highly desirable. Concentration in a health/research related field (Health Economics, Health Administration, Health Informatics, Pharmacy, Public Health etc) a plus.

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience (this may include internships). Managed Care, Healthcare, Health Plan, Pharma or health management consulting experience a plus.

  • Experience with pharmacy and medical claims and knowledge of medical and pharmacy billing is a must.

  • Ability to develop and maintain databases desirable. Must be able to learn/utilize company-specific claim systems, databases, and document management systems.

  • Advanced analytic skills and programming skills highly desirable. Experience with SAS a plus.

  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Powerpoint, etc), including mastery of all Excel functions, formulas, ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets.

  • Strong project management, planning, organizational, and process improvement skills.

  • Good written and oral communications. Ability to summarize information and succinctly communicate analysis verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information and interact with senior management.
