The College of Engineering and Applied Science has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Associate Dean for Academic Initiatives position.

Position Emphasis:

This leadership position reports to and supports the Dean with a goal of elevating the quality and impact of all College activities. This position is primarily responsible for operational aspects (planning, developing, implementing, managing, evaluating) of College initiatives, including but not limited to strategic, academic, research, financial, and administrative. This position coordinates the programmatic activities of the Dean’s cabinet (assistant and associate deans and college administrator). The College Administrator, who oversees the College administrative staff, reports to this position. This position will regularly represent the Dean and/or College at functions and meetings with stakeholders including faculty and staff, higher administration, other Colleges, and industry partners.

Job duties include supporting the Dean to:

  • Lead efforts to implement strategy in key operational areas including student success, industry engagement, facilities, communications, and faculty development.

  • Integrate the implementation of College strategy and tactics into strategic priorities and emerging programs of the CU Denver Campus and Anschutz Medical Campus.

  • Create plans to build new programs or refresh existing ones to respond to dynamic markets.

  • Oversee development of reports to internal and external agencies.

  • Develop budgetary planning, modeling, and forecasting processes in a dynamic environment with multiple revenue sources and constraints.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures regarding College operations as necessary.

  • Support the Dean to continually seek and engage in new opportunities for the College and address emerging challenges.

Employment Conditions:

This is a full-time, 12-month exempt professional administrative appointment, and may be eligible for a concurrent adjunct faculty appointment commensurate with qualifications.

This position is available July 16, 2018.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications. This position is not eligible for overtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in engineering, management, or an appropriate field.

  • Experience with various elements of academic operations, including, e.g., teaching, research, facilities operations, administration, etc.

  • Experience overseeing and managing large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders to successful conclusions.

  • Understanding of academic and industry environments and cultures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful university teaching and collaboration in teaching and/or curriculum efforts.
