Position Summary:

College of Business Student Academic Services is seeking an Academic Advisor II, Davie, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Assistant Director for Student Academic Services (COB) on the Davie Campus and the Assistant Director for Career and Internship advising activities.

  • Assists in planning and implementing new or revised programs to expand internship advising on the Davie Campus.

  • Conducts individual coaching sessions with Business students to prepare for internship opportunities. Includes identifying career paths in specific major, highlighting students’ academic and experiential achievements, search strategies, resume review and interview skills.

  • Assists the Career/Internship Team with creating events, workshops, and presentations to educate students about intern opportunities.

  • Articulates all internship course options, requirements and processes to students for course credit. Assists students with internship learning objective development.

  • Supports, assists and promotes the College of Business internship/experiential learning programs for undergraduate students.

  • Meets with Internship Instructors to identify requirements necessary, application process, and course expectations.

  • Provides general advising services to undergraduate students.

  • Monitors student academic plans to provide timely, proactive outreach to ensure degree progress and timely graduation using defined learning outcomes.

  • Reinforces and supports student degree progress, academic success and retention, in alignment with university strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Participates in student recruitment and onboarding activities on and off campus for individuals and groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution and five years of related experience required.Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.Must also have excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.
