Social: Although you have the full support of our data science team, you should be able to work directly with our business teams to interpret their requests, build solutions for them, and provide regular presentations and updates. Curious: One of the most exciting parts of the internship program is getting a fresh pair of eyes to look at our data and our challenges. While you’re working on our projects, we hope you’ll ask the questions that we never thought to (and answer them!) Some of the most valuable outcomes are from fortunate observations that lead the project in a whole new direction. Don’t be afraid to challenge long-standing assumptions and discover something new.
Analytical: Being able to support your claims with evidence is critical to the success of our team and to the success of a data scientist’s career. We’re looking for someone who is very thorough and rigorous in their analysis and can design their own approach to solving a problem.
Ambitious: We start new projects all the time, which means you’ll have the same amount of background knowledge that we do. Take charge, use new technologies, apply different methods, and offer innovative solutions to our group. Our ideal candidate is self driven and can contribute extensively to guiding the direction of our project development.
Pursuing (or completion of) a degree in a quantitative discipline e.g. Computer Science, Math, Physics, Statistics, or other related field
Strong quantitative skills, with solid grasp of key concepts in Probability, Statistics, Algorithm design, and Machine Learning
Working knowledge of advanced statistics and tools such as SQL, R, Matlab and Python
Able to thrive when working as a part of a small, collaborative team
