This position is located in the Financial Management service at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital, Columbia, MO. The incumbent will assist in reviewing invoices received from vendors, opening and distributing mail, preparing outgoing correspondence and mail and filing. The employee has basic knowledge of general patient eligibility.

The following contain the principle duties and responsibilities of the incumbent; but, are not limited to:

  • Receive and distribute correspondence

  • Organize, process and file records

  • Review basic claims for completeness and enter claims for review

  • Aid in developing and processing of documentation (misc reports, procurement documentation, operating procedures)

  • Assist in summarizing data, background info, and other materials into reports or presentations

  • Conducts basic research on selected topics and/or concepts.

Subject to a background/suitability investigation. Designated and/or random drug testing may be required. Be at least 16 years old by the closing date of this vacancy announcement. Accepted for/Currently enrolled in a qualified educational institution. Must be willing to relocate. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Work Schedule: This position is intermittent. Work hours will be coordinated with class schedule.

Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office environment and may require some standing, walking, lifting of office supplies, stooping to file, and sitting at a computer station entering data.

Internship Program: To be eligible, applicants must be accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis.

EXPERIENCE GS-03: Applicants must demonstrate 6 months of general experience.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Any type of work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation; for instance, general clerical work or reception duties.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR EXPERIENCE GS-03: Successful completion of one year of school above high school (transcript required).

OR

COMBINING EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GS-03: Combination of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. (Transcript Required)
