Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking an HR Intern to help support our HR team in Cayce, SC! This is a part-time position working approximately 15-20 hours per week between the hours of 8am - 5pm.

The Internship Program allows students the opportunity to work on meaningful and exciting projects that will give them the hands-on experience they need to build a solid foundation for their future. As an intern, students will have the opportunity to participate in a formalized program, designed to increase knowledge of Commercial Metals Company and the steel industry as well as develop essential leadership skills.

As a Human Resources Intern, you could potentially support the organization in several of the following ways:

  • Gain exposure to major HR processes and the strategic role HR plays

  • Assist with HR processes by providing analysis and customer support

  • Support the business strategy through managing and updating HR data, as well as project management work

  • Attend business unit and corporate HR team meetings to gain exposure to the broader field of Human Resources

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

As with any internship there are a mixture of duties, this internship will include some admin tasks as well as some great HR experience during your internship in a busy HR department. Some projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with Talent Acquisition process for hourly employees

  • Create a metrics dashboard

  • Spearhead visual communication program and employee kiosk forms

  • Help coordinate the intern/summer program and associated activities

  • Co-facilitate new hire orientation

  • Assist with general administrative tasks

  • Perform additional duties as requested

Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Relevant coursework and/or projects

  • Previous internship experience preferred, but not required

  • Ability to prioritize requests effectively and understand importance and meet deadlines

  • Must be willing to adapt to shifting requirements or priorities

  • Strong quality and results orientation with a proactive approach

  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures

  • Ability to work independently with moderate level of direction

  • Critical thinking, strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail

  • High sense of confidentiality

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and work effectively among a diverse group of people

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to present to senior leaders

Education Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field

  • Recommended GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
