Benefits and Leave Specialist
The benefits specialist will support the Human Resources Department in all administrative support with benefit enrollments and with related federal laws including but not limited to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Affordable Care Act (ACA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
Assists with annual renewals and benefit proposals.
Interact with clients, carriers, agents, and vendors to manage and maintain relationships
Coordinate the in-take process of new hires/rehired employees.
Enter, update, and/or retrieve information from various automated human resource systems.
Research, compile and analyze data for special human resources projects and reports.
Originate, compose, and prepare letters, action forms, and other correspondence.
Assist with the open enrollment process
Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility
Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
Works closely with the Health and Safety team/First Aid on employee work restrictions and accommodations.
Assists with General HR projects as needed Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in a similar role assisting with open enrollment, establishing vendor relationships, and providing support to park staff.
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related behavioral science field.
Working knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices, typically acquired through at least one year of work experience in a Human Resources related position or through the combination of graduate course work or related internship experience is required.
Detailed-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills is required.
Ability to prioritize and work simultaneously on multiple projects, adhering to budgets and deadlines is required.
