Good Shepherd Services Internship & Career Coordinator YABC at DeWitt Clinton HS in Bronx, New York

The Internship & Career Coordinator helps to prepare students for internships and future opportunities. She/He develops and manages internships in sectors that meet students’ interests. He or she works as a team with other Young Adult Borough Center (YABC) staff to provide students with educational and career resources, support and guidance.


Location: 100 West Mosholu Parkway South, Bronx, New York 10468

Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt, Monday-Thursday 10am to 6pm (one late day) Friday 8am to 4pm

Major Duties:

  • Facilitate skill/competency-building employment/internship preparation classes and workshops for students in the YABC.

  • Provide job/ career counseling to students including resume building, interviewing skills, and job readiness.

  • Support students’ growth by providing continuous feedback and resources to meet the student’s needs.

  • Collaborate with advocate counselors, social worker, and DOE staff.

  • Recruit students to participate in the LTW internship opportunities.

  • Monitor LTW students to facilitate greater retention on internships.

  • Develop internships in diverse range of employment fields, to match students’ skills, maturity levels, and experience.

  • Provide guidance to employers on maximizing internship experiences by working effectively with adolescents.

  • Perform site visits monthly to discuss student progress with site supervisors and observe students at their internships.

  • Address any performance issues that may arise at work site by providing advocacy, mediation, performance contracts, etc.

  • Facilitate weekly seminars for students that focus on building students’ skills in semester long preparation classes at YABC.

  • Facilitate workshops on employment/Internship readiness to students.

  • Plan and execute post-secondary related trips and events.

  • Model professional behavior, communication, and attire at all times.

  • Assist with out-of-school issues and provide crisis intervention as needed.

  • Track, evaluate and report on multiple aspects of program operations.

  • Input intern timesheets accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Meet regularly with staff from other LTW sites to share learning, compare approaches and develop new program ideas.

  • Meet all program and contractual demands.

  • Assist with YABC program needs such as intake, trips, events, celebrations, meetings, etc.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelors’ degree and experience working with adolescents/youth adults in education/employment related fields required.

  • Strong group facilitation or teaching skills required.

  • Experience developing internships for youth preferred.

  • Ability to work with diverse staff and students and network with diverse employer constituents.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Statistical and narrative record keeping accountability required.

  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth development perspective.
