About Your Other Half Your Other Half is a human resources and operations company serving small businesses in the U.S. We act as our clients' business advisor, working closely with them on the operations of their business - human resources, finance, legal, operations, administration - by helping them create and implement sustainable internal systems and timelines. Position Description The Graphic Design Intern will be responsible for partnering with the CEO to use current assets and style guidelines to create assets and designs for two properties, and to create the third from scratch. Designs will include website assets, physical collateral assets such as brochures, flyers, and business cards, online assets such as presentations and downloadables, and social media graphics. This is an opportunity to have large creative impact on three young and growing brands. The Graphic Design Intern is expected to take on the following roles and responsibilities: In cooperation with the CEO and Web Development Intern, develop a design for three website properties; Update brand guidelines for the two existing brands, and create brand guidelines for the third brand; Learn about each brand, and then make recommendations for the assets needed for each brand; Develop assets across all three brands and across digital and physical platforms, as decided and agreed with the CEO; Educate the CEO, CSO and Administrative Assistant on how to use brand guidelines and selected creation tools (i.e. Canva or other similar platform) for ongoing content creation. Position type: Temporary, part-time, non-exempt (May-August 2018) Position compensation: $13.50/hour for 15-25 hours of work per week Position Location: Remote Reports to: CEO Position Requirements A strong candidate will have the following required prior experience, skills and dispositions: Have successfully completed at least two years of college at an accredited university; An excellent portfolio of work, including examples of both digital and physical assets; A superb communicator, with excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to track time efficiently and accurately in the allotted time keeping system; Ability to keep assignments moving to completion, and ability to work independently while seeking guidance appropriately; Experience and competence in designing sites in Wordpress; Excellent software and computer skills, including a strong working knowledge of Google Suite, Zoom, Asana, and ability to employ computer skills to higher efficiency and productivity; Maintains a positive attitude that exudes professionalism and integrity in all aspects of her or his work; Comfortable working to deadlines and with timely requests; Excitement about working in a small team, and to contribute in a team context; An openness to constructive, supportive feedback and a commitment to consistently improve; and Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and prioritize appropriately. The ideal candidate will also have the following preferred prior experience skills and dispositions: Experience working in a small company with five or fewer people; Portfolio examples of brand marks, brand guidelines or style guides previously created; Excitement about getting to own and update brand identities; Willingness and confidence to work in an advisory capacity, researching and solving problems, and presenting solutions; Experience video editing and inserting graphics in video editing; and/or Personal interest in business consulting, fabrication, or personal brands.
