Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for a summer Engineering Intern to join us in Boston, MA. You will contribute to the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, built on Linux containers and the Kubernetes cluster management system. Being part of the OpenShift team is about passion for technology and development. We are building a system that is changing how development is done. You'll need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment, with the goal of contributing to one of the most cutting-edge cloud computing projects.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with the following technologies on a day-to-day basis; if you aren't familiar with some of the tools and technology, as we can help you learn as long as you have the flexibility to apply your knowledge and experience to these new tools:

  • Docker

  • Kubernetes

  • Linux and UNIX operating systems

  • Develop code with the following tools:

  • Go

  • JavaScript

  • Bash scripts

  • Other OpenShift-supported languages

  • Communicate with community members through IRC, forums, and email

  • Participate in upstream projects

Required skills

  • Practical experience with web or system programming, or equivalent university coursework

  • Knowledge of the UNIX and Linux operating system (any distribution)

  • Ability to communicate at an intermediate level in English as part of a global team

  • Previous code contributions to open source projects or code samples on GitHub is preferred
