WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Superintendent - Construction for our Bedford Hills, NY project office.

WSP USA is looking for a Sr. Construction Superintendent (Senior Inspector) towork at the NYSOGS Field Office in Bedford Hills, New York. The Construction Superintendent will work under the direction of the NYSOGS Regional Supervisor on construction projects at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility.

The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for inspection-related project needs such as:

  • Inspecting work performed by contractors for compliance with the Contract documents and notifying contractors, in writing, of any deficiencies encountered

  • Reading drawings and specifications

  • Observing general safety practices

  • Monitoring construction activities

  • Preparing daily written reports documenting the contractor's work activities (using OGS forms)

  • Participating in daily on-site superintendent meetings with contractors as required

  • Coordinating and scheduling utility outages and shutdowns with all stakeholders as required by contract work activities

  • Utilizing relevant QA/QC procedures as outlined in the OGS/D&C QA/QC Manual.

  • Documenting significant on-site problems with photographs (as required)

  • Coordinating all work with Facility Representatives to minimize disruption to normal facility operations

  • Preparing written reports, summarizations, detailed analysis, or other documentation to be used in defense of contractors' claims

  • Performing other duties as assigned

Safety-related responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the project safety program

  • Assisting in safety inspections and making verbal and written recommendations along with relevant follow-up to ensure that corrective action is taken

  • Investigating serious construction accidents

  • Preparing accident reports for review and processing by the State Supervisor

Project closeout responsibilities include:

  • Making recommendations on issuance of the Physical Completion Report and BDC 405

  • Reviewing project record documents for accuracy

Qualifications for the Construction Superintendent position include:

  • High School Diploma required. Strong math background is a must!

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 8years of field work experience (e.g. paid OR volunteer positions, internships, co-ops, summer work) relevant to role. 5 years as superintendent position on major projects.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction involving multiple phases of large scale building/rehabilitation projects. A minimum of 5 years of the experience shall be as superintendent on large scale multi contract, building projects.

  • Must have a proficient level of knowledge relative to all aspects of construction supervision.

  • OHSA 30 Certification
