TRAVIS COUNTY Employment Program Coordinator in AUSTIN, Texas

JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates all phases of activities and functions associated with a social services program or programs. Performs consultative, technical and administrative work in the planning, development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of a program. Ensures that program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with established priorities. Analyzes program issues, completes policy and program analysis, conducts program research and presents program-related training and education. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists youth in preparation for obtaining employment by conducting classes, linking clients with employment resources and providing case management services that will increase their success at employment. Establishes relationships with community employers to create job opportunities and works with job seekers to provide job preparation training, job placement to include internships, apprenticeships and on-the job coaching. Provide on-going support to ensure youth reach their employment goals. Makes community based referrals, as required. Identifies and contacts potential placement opportunities in the local community to ascertain employment needs and matches youth with job requirements. Establishes contacts and partnerships with employment agencies, and educational organizations. Develops job bank resources and work opportunities that secures job positions for youth trainees. Conducts program orientation and intake sessions for youth. Evaluates any work history, education and training, and job skills. Prepares individual employment development plans. Assesses youth's educational needs and makes appropriate referrals to community based providers as needed. Conducts and develops job training classes, including writing resumes, completing applications and interviewing techniques. Facilitates individual or group discussions for work related skills and conduct. Develops and implements workshops, activities and events to promote career development, labor market preparation to include career/educational fairs, and parent-teen sessions Refers youth to employers and provides pertinent job related information to client. Provides on-site and off-site job coaching and training to youth teaching them specific job tasks. Conducts presentations to community as needed. Participates in trainings, team meetings, conferences and related activities. Collects program statistics and generates statistical reports. Communicates appropriate employment related information regarding youth to authorize personnel. Serves as liaison with staff or community partners as needed. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Corrections, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources or a directly related field AND five (5) years' experience in social services or a directly related field, including casework, employment related counseling, workforce development, social work or corrections; OR, Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this job. Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements: Valid Texas Driver's License. WORK ENVIRONMENT & OTHER INFORMATION: Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds occasionally, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and office equipment.
