IFG is a growing company with 7 regional sawmills located in North Idaho and Montana that values employees and holds a reputation for high quality products.
The acutally home office for this job will be at our Athol, Idaho facility and not our Corporate Office in
This entry-level automation engineering position is to engage with and support the advancement of robotics and automation within multiple sawmill sites. The position reports directly to the Director of Automation.
Research, design, evaluate and develop machines and tools.
Install and maintain machines applying engineering
Work with internal and external resources to validate and fabricate designs.
Assist in commissioning automated machinery.
Assist with Design ideas for process improvement related to Safety, Productivity, and Efficiency
Troubleshoot both new and existing equipment
Become proficient in programming automated equipment
Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University in Engineering; Mechanical, Industrial, Automation or Electrical disciplines will be considered. An M.B.A. and/or master's degree is preferred, but not required.
Prior internship and/or exposure to either the Sawmill industry, Timber industry or Automation
Working knowledge and/or experience with AutoCAD / SolidWorks
Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines
Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
Valid Driver's License & reliable transportation to travel to various sites around north Idaho and western Montana
A valid Passport, or ability to obtain one, for possible international travel
Pass a drug, physical, and background check
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, climb stairs and safely navigate through job sites and/or mill sites. Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).

Repetitive use of hands frequent for clerical duties
Vision near and far correctable; depth perception
Hearing preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies
